Difference between PDR HX-35 and HX-40
I would like to know what the people that have ran both the PDR HX-35 and the HX-40 think. What is the difference in low and mid range power? How much of a EGT reduction? has anyone towed with both? I would like to go with the HX-40 but the cost of it and a new exhaust brake is just too much. I am also looking at the HTT stage three kit. Anyone knows how this compares to the PDR HX-35?
BTW my truck is a '97 5spd, #10 plate, 3000 GSK, 370 injectors, running the stock turbo with the 16 housing.
TIA

Re:Difference between PDR HX-35 and HX-40
Reliability in the HX40 has been a problem. My understanding is that the blades on the exhaust turbine are larger on the HX40 than the HX35 -- but the shaft and bearing are the same. So the load on the shaft and bearing is higher, and the HX40 blades sometimes get thrown -- which destroys the turbo. Seems to me that the ideal is an HX40/35 hybrid -- compressor wheel from an HX40 mated to the stronger turbine from a 35. There are a number of them out there -- mine works very well, and has actually "liberated" my 275's at higher RPM's while towing.
