Do u have a set of gauges? If not i would strongly suggest getting a set. Theres another member (Cumminsdriver635) that has a 94 auto also. He put 181 DVs in his truck and it dropped his 1/4 mile time by half a second. Then he put in a set of 215 injectors and lost another half a second. So with the combo of 181s and 215s, he dropped a whole second in the 1/4 mile. Im running a set of 191s in my truck and i like them pretty well. I could definitely tell a difference in the way the truck ran after the install.
I am in a similar situation as I have a 94 auto with the stock turbo. I have an appointment with mass diesel to install a #5 plate, gsk 3000, 215 injectors, and time the pump. Should I change out the delivery valves? If so do I go with the 181 or 191's? I plan to tow about 7k lbs with this truck.
Thanks

The combo you listed will be pretty good, but some 181 delivery valves will make a decent difference too. My truck is perfect for hauling in my opinion. No EGT problems at all, and runs great. 191's may give you a little power over the 181's but i have heard they raise your EGT's quite a bit.

I saw in an earlier post you lost power when you added the injectors and lost even more with the dv's. What is the deal with that, was there another problem that caused this power loss?
Thanks Again

Herb,
You might as well have Scott put new DV's in at the same time. You have to pull the injector lines anyway. Now is the time to do it. You will have a new truck when you do those mods. You won't believe the difference.

Herb & Other '94 160 HP truck owners.....
Herb,
The boost elbow comes w/ the kit. I priced DV's a
and they are about $250.
Herb and other '94 160HP Auto Owners:
One thing came to mind about your truck. It's not something that needs to be done ASAP, but you would sleep better at night.
An early issue of the TDR had a good article about engine dampers. Of all the 2nd Gen trucks '94-'02, you have the "little" vibration Damper or Harmonic Balancer on your 160 HP engine. Even my '94 175 HP 5 Speed truck came with the "big" 215 HP damper. We researched the hell out of it at one time. I ordered a new 215 Damper from Cummins, and when I got it here it was the same thing that came OEM on a 175 HP 5 speed truck.
The "big" 215 HP Damper measures about 9-3/8" O.D.
I think the O.D of the 160 HP Damper is about 8-1/4".
Comparing the 2 side-by-side, the 215 HP Damper is quite a bit bigger and heavier.
I know we aren't seeing many crank and main bearing failures on our trucks, but I think it's a darn good, inexpensive & easy upgrade when you are turning up the power. The tach pickup sensor will have plenty of travel on the OEM bracket, in the OEM location for the 215 HP damper.
Remember only the '94 160 HP auto truck came OEM w/ the "little" damper. Un-sure about pre-'94.
I think they are less than $200 new from Cummins. Look for Cummins p/n 3924435. Ebay usally has good cheap take-offs. Or you could spring for a new Fluidampr. It's a little $$ though.

No, I never lost power by putting in the injectors or DV's. I didnt think I had gained much, but after I put the DV's in i went to the drag strip and I had gained half a second through the 1/4. Then I went again after the injectors and gained another whole half a second. So both of those brought me from a 16.2 to my best run of 15.12. A lot more difference than I thought, and for some reason EGT's arent any higher at all.
