Difference 181 and 191 DV

So...I figgure that my next mod will be a bigger set of DV's. What is the difference between the 181 and the 191? The 181 are used in the 215 pumps correct?? Where do the 191's come from and how much extra over the 181 do they flow?

I would like to end up with a good 3hundredandsomthing horsepower with full fuel... and ok for around town and bush driving HP with a valet switch. Am I on the right track here?

From research on here

the laser cuts and ur 215 injectors will be a good combination, so id go with it if i could, Id say ur on the right track..

i believe so but laser cuts are a little more aggressive, but i can tell you that flow bench tests prove that laser cut DV's and holders from JL machining flow 100cc more fuel than stock on a stock setup pump.

Lazers are more aggresive, that's what I thought too. I don't know what lazers have to do with them but they might be a little to big.

theres no such thing as too big! i would go big on DV's and holders and limit fuel with the the plate adjustment and the right foot.

[QUOTE=crankbender;1221157]So...I figgure that my next mod will be a bigger set of DV's. What is the difference between the 181 and the 191? The 181 are used in the 215 pumps correct?? Where do the 191's come from and how much extra over the 181 do they flow?

If you got the air you should see about 30hp going from the 181s to the 191s but in many cases people changing up DVs are still playing with the stock turbo and only see gains in smoke and EGTs.

or try JL machining 100CC increase on stock setup bench proven PM me if you need the contact info. PS schieds DV's are the same as JL Machining without holders about 73 cc.

Do u have a set of gauges? If not i would strongly suggest getting a set. Theres another member (Cumminsdriver635) that has a 94 auto also. He put 181 DVs in his truck and it dropped his 1/4 mile time by half a second. Then he put in a set of 215 injectors and lost another half a second. So with the combo of 181s and 215s, he dropped a whole second in the 1/4 mile. Im running a set of 191s in my truck and i like them pretty well. I could definitely tell a difference in the way the truck ran after the install.

Where are these numbers coming from? Who put it on the bench to find out, Scheids?

191's are a little over 181's.. Seems they raise EGT's pretty good too though. I am happy with my setup for right now. I am almost in the 14's on a stock "small" 160 pump 215 injectors,3k and 181 DV's. I dyno'd 281/693 before the delivery valves and injectors. My guess is I gained a good 40-50hp with both of them combined. Im guessing id dyno around 330hp/750tq or so now. Plus with 16 degrees of timing my pyro is only at about 1200* at the end of thr 1/4 mile, and hauling a load it takes a lot to get it warm EGT wise. 1400* is about it no matter what the conditions. Overall I think the 181's are a good upgrade over the 131's with basically no EGT increase at all.

Thanx for the help guys, mabey I will go with the 191's or lazers. Looking at the hp # you guys have it should put me in the ball park. Right now I can hit 1400 if I hold it to the floor in 5th so I also plan on getting a S300 and 4" MBRP exaust from Peirs. My garage is cold (very cold)right now so I will probably put everything in when spring rolls around.
