Diesel Fuel Additives & Marvel mystery oil

Who's using fuel additives? Does anybody use MMO in the fuel tank?
Any vp44 users? I used additives in the winter time, but with all the bad news about the VP44 I'm going to start using some on every fill up in my 98.5 24v. My 12v I never worry about, only in the winter, ( I learned the hard way one cold winter day 5am).

Thanks

Check my truck in my sig, I got the same year as you. I run Power Service (white bottle) with every fill-up. I have been doing this since about 60,000 miles, I now have almost 130,000 miles. I just now replaced my first LP and VP-44 this last summer. I can feel a slight difference from when I use the additive and when I don't. Acceleration, idle smoothness, smoke control all seem to improve.

I can't really add any input about the MMO, never used it my Cummins. I have used it in my old Chevy gasser though. It worked real well in that application. I don't think it would hurt to use the MMO, but in my own opinion, there are better, more specific, additives for diesels. That's just my two cents.

If available locally, a small percentage blend of Bio-diesel fuel would be an excellant lubricity enhancement. I understand a 5%(B5) blend is considered safe by all manufacturers and will not void warranty.

I use Stanadyne Performance Formula in every fill-up.
I usually fill at 1/2 tank and add ~6oz of SPF.
So far I've been going about 40,000 on a lift pump, and (knock wood) still on my 1st Injection Pump.

I used marvels a few times when I first got my truck, But I get power service at walmart now, the silver bottle for summer use. I put about a quart in every fill up.
Marvels is good stuff though.

I've been using Stanadyne PF One Shot with every fill up. Recently I've been mixing 8oz MMO with 12oz Power Service (silver bottle), adding the 20oz mix every fill up.
I've noticed a slight increase in mpg, engine is quieter and smoother at idle.

I'll switch back to straight Stanadyne when the weather turns cold.

Where can you find Marvel Mystery Oil? Others have said they used 2 stroke oil in place of MMO with the same results.....any truth to that?

1% BD (1/3 gallon per tank) will raise the lubricity of of #2 diesel by 65%

I found both MMO and PS at Wally World. I paid $9.00 for a gallon of MMO.

I have heard the same thing about the 2 stroke oil, but have not tried it myself.

Anywhere else besides Wally World? The Wally Worlds around here don't sell either of those....plus, I can't stand going there, anyway.

I have been doing the PS mixed with Lucas for my 01. Think about running filtered waste engine oil in my old chevy 6.5td....
