Delivery valves without bigger injectors?

Worth bothering with? It was suggested to me by a TDR guy... '98 auto 12v.. will have #10 w/adjustable elbow, Scotty II, 4" pipe, 3kgsk, and gauges, of course.

I don't want to get injectors until I can swing a new turbo at the same time to keep temps down...

But, would a set of 191's get a little more squirt out of the 180hp injectors?

Just wanted to let you know about my experince with the 191s. With a #4 plate and the 191s my pyro wouldn't even slow down on the way to 1500*. I tried the #10 plate and the pyro would slow at about 1350* before going to 1500*. I ended up taking them back out. They did make about a 25hp gain according to a G-meter, but had very little difference in a quarter mile times. (about .1 and 2-3mph at the top end). Just my $.02.

Dont do it. No gain in performance. Lots of gain in EGT.

No gain in performance? My truck picked up huge power gains with stock injectors and 190 delivery valves. Insane power gain on the bottom! Yes, I did see an EGT increase but you should expect this with the large amount of additional fuel - well beyond what the stock turbo can deal with for prolonged periods of full throttle. I am saving my pennies for a bigger turbo but until then I keep my eye on the EGT guage and back out of it before it goes nuclear.

The 98, 12 valve engines have a 181 DV from the factory.

The 94's have a measly 131 DV. Large difference.

The smoke and heat has never been worth the slight gain for a 98 pump to me.

Its an opinion only though.

Thanks Don... I trust your words and will wait until the 370's and the bigger turbo...

I think I'll be pretty happy with around 300hp / 700 lb-ft from the #10 by itself... for a little while. (of course, with gauges, intake & exhaust, & 3k GSK)

I sold Chris those delivery valves, the week afterwards he was pegging like 46-48 psi and blew his stock 35 LOL ...so you can't tell me from 181's to 191's there is no performance gains You're beginning to sound like Joe ..and some 95's like my last 2 trucks have had a "167" dv in them, have u seen those before?

I'm going to have to agree. I think for the cost and then trying to install them I'd leave them alone unless I needed them for some insane hp. But since I only plan on #10 and maybe twins I think the 181's will be just fine.

I'm gonna guess that both the 180 & 215 hp pumps had the 181 dv's in them so you should be ok

What are the differences in injectors between 94 - 98? I have been up against other similarly equipped 97's and 98's but they had their stock 181 delivery valves and I BLOW THEIR DOORS CLEAN OFF! I am serious, it is not even close. My experience with 190's seems to be quite a bit different than others, so I was wondering if there was some other type of difference with the 94 injector or something else I am not aware of that could cause this to happen. My EGT's don't seem out of line for the amount of fuel I am running either.

I thought this was one of my better bombs, but some of you guys make it sound like it was one of the worst.
Any thoughts on this? Now I am quite curious.

The smaller 160 pumps respond GREATLY to the bigger dv's...my 95 would stop a 4 lane highway and plenty of 70-100mph seat of the pants kick vs. stock ones
