Can the local dealer flash a 99' to give it the fast idle program? Anyone ever done it? What did it cost?

 

i don't think so. i think that is only on the newer models.

 

Try to find someone close with a smarty, they can put it in your truck and take it back out and you'll have that option loaded in your ECM....For Free

 

A dealer can do it but its a complete reflash of the ecm. I dont know the cost of it tho. Another thing is most dealers that arent big into the diesels will prolly not even know what your asking about. But it can be done.

 

98.5-2000 need a new ECM programmed flashed, then the Cold Weather Idle program enabled.
2001 and 2002 have the new program, just need the Cold Weather Idle enabled.

Both require hooking up the DRB, and Dealerships like to charge an hour of shop time to do this.

Took me 3 tries and 2 different Dealerships before they finally did it right, charged me $45, and they were only enabling it, 5 minutes tops.
