DD COMP VS EZ COMP DIFF ?

Re:DD COMP VS EZ COMP DIFF ?
Higher timing is not always "The best"
In limited cases I have seen the DD box be about 8HP lower than the Edge Comp. Not Much IMO.
Lower timing = less NOX, but slightly higher EGT. Lower timing is mechanically easier on the engine as well.

Re:DD COMP VS EZ COMP DIFF ?
We've kicked this around at TDR many times. For the best answers ask Keith or Lawrence.
The information I've gathered suggests that the DDUFM has slightly less timing advance and is really designed to be used with larger than stock injectors. I have the DDUFM and haven't been able to directly compare it to a PE COMP, but am quite happy with the little beast. A few folks have said that the smoke is less on a DD product. I doubt that anything less than a dyno could find a power difference. And my setup SMOKES just fine.
The biggest significant difference I've seen is that Edge limits their warranty and DD gives the box "lifetime" coverage.

Thanks Don and Wade.....
I just received my EZ Drag upgraded Box and had never heard of the DD Version. Was wondering if I screwed up again

Nope your fine. Just be happy with the box.

Re:DD COMP VS EZ COMP DIFF ?
Just adding to Dons excelent comments, the other difference in the DD version is that the low boost fueling is more agressive -- that is, sub level 1 is less fueling on the DD version. so in addition to Lawrence's timing philosphy you get the low boost fueling algorithms that were designed around the DD injectors. probably that means that if the Edge sub level 1 gives you too much smoke, you may be happier with the DD version.

Re:DD COMP VS EZ COMP DIFF ?
that exactly what it does. Edge does it too; just not as aggresively.
precise information is difficult to acheive, but this is what I've been able to interpret so far:
sub level 3:
At 0 psi boost, the Edge box adds 33% of the enhanced fueling that would otherwise be called for by the box, and ramps up to 100% enhanced fueling by 20 psi. The "enhanced fueling" level is whatever the box calculates from the primary fueling level setting, rpms, the stock fueling instruction that it intercepts, etc.
At 0 psi boost, the DD box is at stock fueling (0% of the enhanced fueling calculation), and won't give 100% enhanced fueling until you acheive 28 lbs boost.
sub level 4
At 0 psi boost, The Edge box adds 50% of the enhanced fueling that would otherwise be called for by the box, and 100% of the enhanced fueling is added at 15 psi
At 0 psi boost, the DD box adds 0% of the enhanced fueling that would otherwise be called for by the box, and ramps up to 100% of enhanced fueling by 10 psi.
Sub level 5:
At 0 psi boost, the Edge box adds 67% of the enhanced fueling, and ramps up to 100% at 10 psi
At 0 psi boost, the DD box adds 0% of the enhanced fueling and ramps up to 100% by 3 psi.
I don't have any information from Edge on sub levels 1 and 2. But here's what the DD box does:
On sub level 2, the DD box is 20% BELOW STOCK, and ramps to 100% enhanced fueling by 28 lbs boost.
On sub level 1, the DD box is 30% BELOW STOCK, and ramps to 100% enhanced fueling by 28 psi.
you can see that the DD box is considerably more conservative in the way it adds the enhanced fueling at low boost levels. sub level 3 on the DD box is pretty throttled back if you ask me -- no fuel enhancement at all at 0 boost, while the Edge box is already adding 33% of the enhanced fuel calculation at 0 boost. and the DD box has a more gradual ramp up as well, requiring 28 psi before it will deliver 100% enhanced fueing (on sub level 3).
Another interesting observation is that on sub level 5, the DD box is still really throttled back at low boost (stock fueling) but beyond 0 boost it comes in like gangbusters, ramping to 100% enhanced fueling by only 3 psi. The edge box on sub level 5 waits for 10psi for full enhancement to come in.
DD can upgrade your Edge box to their UFM-comp so you can get this low boost behavior. pretty attractive option for those with injectors, if you ask me
