DD clutch to big? does it matter?
#16
I have a 3850 dd 12 button ceramic from valair and I love this clutch. It does not slip and takes getting used to. Besides the noise the only down side is when backing a heavy trailer but with some practice it can be done or just put it in 4x4 low and it works fine. I am not pushing a lot of hp now but have a 64mm and 200 sticks to come.
I don't like to do it.
I do that with my 1st gens as I can not lock the hubs and still use 4 L.

I have had a few Posi lock pull cable CAD units on 2nd gen trucks, which allows using 4L without the front axle engaged.
Those work great, but just using a stock front axle in 4L to back a truck on hard ground because you have a grabby clutch, is not a good option IMHO.

Most of the time I don't need 4lo but the few times that I have I just used it to get the load moving then shift on the fly or I don't make any turns and back straight up. Thanks for the concerns.
