Yes the Pulse is the only way you get that feature. If you just get the Recon monitor, you will not be able to custom tune.

Pulse monitor is the only way to go. Custom tuning is worth every penny.

the power is still awesome without the pulse, but once you have the pulse you can do so much more, but you can still download differant tunes without the pulse. and there are more aggressive ones out now than when i bought mine you will still be very pleased without the pulse. i guarantee it

You should not be having surging at all with the tunes available. You do not need the Pulse to not have surging.

So my next question is what tune are you running and how old is it. The next question is did you know we have a free firmware update available if the new tunes don't totally rid you of the problem?

I'm running an update from the Oct. update I believe. Surging comes and goes, sometimes it's real bad. I ussually run the pulse on number 5. I see you have a new update in nov. so I will try to load it and see if it helps.
I really don't want to mess with the tuneable system, I'd just like the way the ad. pulls and if the surge is gone that would be great.
Thanks

I installed the latest uploads and the surge was gone today. At 70 mph it used to surge so bad you had to back out of it. It was totally gone today. I hope it stays that way. Thanks Quad!

Once you get it you can check the loaded version and if it's not the latest only takes 30 seconds to upgrade.
