Does anybody kow if there is a scan tool for the CTD? Trouble codes, monitor the engine, rpms, engine statistics and what not. Any help would be great.

The only problem with these is that they are NOT COMPATIBLE with Dodge vehicles. (As specified in the details). A shame though

Interesting 'cuz there are a few around using them on the Dodge/Cummins trucks.
In fact the Cummins Power Store in MD gave one away as a door prize a few years ago for the Dodge/Cummins combo.

see here: (near bottom of page)
http://www.quickcheck.cummins.com/pa...ity/index.html

The Inline I Datalink Adapter and Cables offered on this site work with all Cummins electronically controlled engines produced since 1990 with the exception of the QST30 and the Dodge Ram pickup truck. Both of these applications require an Inline II Datalink Adapter available at your local authorized Cummins distributor or dealer.

My apologies for posting without thoroughly researching the matter first. But the fact remains that for both the quickcheck II and the quckcheck III kits, the site specifically states not compatible for Dodge applications. I would be curious to hear from someone who has one as to how well they work.

I have a Actron that I got from Jeg's that will do all of that. It was like $270.00 or so.

I have had success with the auterra palm pilot version. It does not show all of the diagnostics, but does allow you to read and reset all codes. The only reader that I have seen that shows everything is the OTC and the Snap ON. If you have a few grand to drop on either one of those.

My snap on scanner don't tell my much about the engine, but alot about the drivetrain and body. It don't tell me were the fuel and timing solenoids are dwelling at. That's a more important thing the would be helpfull in figuring problems out. Here's a list of things i can see and do.

read code's
clear code's
rpms
maps sensor volts and psi'
tps volts and %
coolant temp volts and temp
heater gride 1 and 2 on or off
Lift pump on or off
oil pressure
4 gear solenoid
tc solenoid
speed
governor pressure, trans
trans temp
votls going to infector pump
turn on and off --- dash lights, dome, wiper, cruise, heating grids, lift pump

there is more the scanner can do, this is what i can think of right now,

For $270.00 the Actron will not do all of that!!! That sounds cool! How much is the Snap-On unit?

It's not $270. I thing this was $1800 to $2200 at the time of purchase. My scanner has a up to 1999 GM, Ford, Dodge, main and up to1999 trouble shooter chips in it.

I can check ABS, Transmission, Air bag. The trouble shooter chip is cool, If you have a problem (not only elertrical, but mechanical also) It will helpl you out alot. You can find the units on ebay like mine for $600 to $900 I think. If it's update to newer like 2001 it will be over $900. This thing has saved me the 900 on my own cars. I work on Vehicles on the side fot the last 15 years, can't tell you how much money this unit has man be.

Part number is MT2500.
