Crankcase evacuation

OK, has anybody with straight pipes (wont work with much of any backpressure), eliminated the crankcase breather can that makes such a mess of the engine bay, and plumbed it the the exhaust like we do on the drag car headers???
Would do a better job of evacuating the crankcase and keep the bottom of the engine and front axle alot cleaner too......

Somebody on this site recently did what you're talking about at the same time he did twins. It sucked so hard he added two breathers to the valve cover to avoid sucking the tappet cover gasket into the motor. I'd say that's effective.

Well I will chime in on this subject.

I originally installed a moroso exhaust- crankcase evacuation kit being brought up in 2001 and even wrote a thread on it in TDR. I believe it was called, "loose the pill bottle." And it didn't give me any problems until I got into the mid 500 hp range.

Wannadiesel, Twins did not cause the evacuation system to suck so hard that it sucked the tappet cover seals in. Just the opposite. The system actually starts to give some back pressure after about 1600 rpm. And of course with twins there is going to be more blowby and that is what caused your freinds tappet cover to leak.

Hi Carter,

That was true until Muncie, currently I am running a crankcase vacuum pump. As for the exhaust evac system I removed the check valve on the venturi and capped it with a 1/2" NPT pipe cap.

Great now I'm going to have to have one of those too. Gotta have it, kind of like an addiction.
