Cracked Flexplate Symptoms
Ok, I think I have this narrowed down but would like to get some input from those that have had a cracked flexplate.
From a standing stop, as I easy into the throttle I get a pretty good vibration that seems to be coming from the passengerside front wheel. It stops at about 20 mph. After that it drives just like normal. I also get a pretty good vibration as I come to a stop.
Things I've checked:
- Both front hubs. They are tight and have no play in them. Also sound normal as I turn them.
- All the tranny bolts on the bell housing.
- Transmission/TC mount. My last one was cracked this one is only 6 months/20,000 miles old.
Anyone know how to check this without pulling the tranny. Also is a billet flex plate really worth the money. Truck now has 178k on it and I'm fairly sure the flex plate is original. GB tranny was put in at 155k. All opinions and ideas are welcomed.

Id check the wheel bearing units, the ujoints and the pinion bearings too.
Does this vibration change with respect to RPM or with respect to speed? That would give you the clue about the flexplate or not.

I seriously doubt that you have a cracked flex plate but i could be wrong. After seeing how weak the stock flexplates look i cant imagine them holding up to any sort of power if part of it was cracked.
