Angry Couldn't come at a worse time!! Headgasket!!

Well Im pretty sure I blew it tonight. Im too mad to go do further investigation. Ill check it out in the mornin. I never even got on it all night so Im not sure when it let loose but I noticed it kept overheating bad then i get home look under the truck and yep shes a gushin. so I just parked it by the shop and came in.

This sucks how much should it cost for a thicker gasket and a set of studs? Im trying to do it low cost because I just spent all my money on a full goerends tranny. Which isnt even here yet so ill get to install it and not get the pleasure of driving it right away. This isnt the Christmas present I was hoping for.

That sucks man. IIRC, the studs are like $400 for the set of 12mm. I hope I'm wrong. It musta been from the timing and injectors. 200k+ miles is a lot of miles on a stock headgasket. Did you ever get the leak in the injectors fixed?

Yea I fixed the leak the next day. What happened was one of the collars wasnt tight and it was allowing combustion back up out the hole. Yea Im just wondering if we got the timing set correctly. Also could just be that its got 240k on it and the PO ran it hard very hard and put her up wet. Luckily the truck was stock when he had it or who knows what he would have blown up.

I have a feeling that the 17* of timing, big injectors, and 240k miles on it all contributed to it failing. That's a lot of mileage to ask from a bombed truck. Especially with the way you drive.

My son was using my truck a few Saturdays ago. Says he took it easy all night . On his way home the heat gauge started to peg out. He stopped on the side of road for a few minutes and all cooled off. Never heated up again. It was the thermostat sticking, Maybe you'll be lucky.

That sucks man!!!

I'm watching my gauges with these twins now...I can hit 55psi like nothing I don't really want to pull the head yet, need to install the studs I've got on the shelf!

Yea thats what I thought it was at first til i ooked under the truck and saw it dripping and already forming a good size puddle within maybe 30 seconds. maybe I just busted a line on the heater stuff because on the way home I lost heat too.

New tranny going in and can't take it for a test drive. Real bummer!
As you probably know...Gunracer1 recently had the same problem. Talk to him about the where & how much. I'm sure he found a good buy somewhere.
Checked around the cylinder head yet?

Tore it apart tonight this is where it let go at in between #1 and #2. Look on bright side of things i was gonna have to do it sometime or another with twins in my future. Plus ill get to do a little porting on it. My best guess is that the timing is wayyy too advanced Jb wasnt sure that it was right and my guess is its somewhere in the high 30's range ill find out soon enough though.

Mine also went out between 2 and 3. I got a marine .020" headgasket from piers about $130, and arp studs from dtt for $400. Good luck.

i picked up my studs fro jetpilot for 400 plus shipping, and the 20k over marine gasket was 93 from cummins, the part# is 328339, the 10 over is part # 328337

Well I found the culprit the timing was at 27.5*. Yea so im pretty sure thats why.
