Convince me to buy a Smarty (Edit: I did)

Almost bought something with on the fly adjustments.

Convince me that the Smarty is the smart choice or not. I'm ready to buy something.

Oh...1999 2500 QC, 5 speed. Stock, new LP and IP.

depends on what mods you plan on later.. as is.. Smarty would be best bet.. adjustable.. and not too much power ... so you shouldnt kill your new VP or your tranny an adjustable.. you can do later.. with a Fuel Only box like a TST.. and then you'll have some good power.. and be upgrading that clutch.

I've tried the Edge EZ , Van Aaken V5 and now have the Smarty.
That being said , I think the best bang for the buck is the
Van Aaken V5. Pulls just as hard or harder than the other two
and alot less smoke at low boost.

Borrow someone's Smarty and drive it for about a mile and you'll be convinced! You'll love the low end, and like was said above, The TST goes GREAT with the Smarty.

I not going to try to convince you of anything.... but Smarty is 'The smart choice"

I will tell you this: Last January, we had a N.Tx DTR Club meet. I had just gotten my Smarty. Out of the five trucks that tried the Smarty.... Four ordered one as soon as they got home. The fifth member waited........... maybe a week. Their trucks had Edge Comps, TST boxes, Big injectors, EZ's.... all sorts of 'bombs'.
They all noticed something they liked a lot. On a stock truck, I believe it would be that much more impressive!

thats not quite true.i think a stock truck shows the least gains with the smarty,i borowed mine to a friend with a stocker and he wasnt impressed at all,he bought a used ez and is happy now,i think the more mods the better the smarty shines,to a point i guess, after 500hp ive read it actually hinders performance, but all that said there is a used smarty in the classifieds,

Maybe the VA is the best bang for the buck, but my money says the smarty is the most fun

I'm not unhappy with the Smarty. It's just that it
could be soooo much better with some minor tweeking.
A little more agressive timing advance and base low
end fueling on boost pressure to cut down on excessive
smoke at low boost levels. Do that and I'm in heaven

Maybe on an HO... but not on mine. Base fueling on boost and you have a TST type setup, with it's related lag and poor low end responsiveness! That's why we all started stacking boxes in the first place.

Thats good to hear bob. Maybe a light towing (under 8000#)
program that has timing somewhere between the "fuel saver"
and #7 program. Also less initial fuel at 0 psi boost and all
in at 5# of boost.

My thoughts exactly... It will "convince you" all by it's self.

Yep that worked!

I just got back from Keystone Diesel, Andy was nice enough to let me try his. The first time I hit the throttle I knew it was for me. I bought one, sat in the parking lot, set it to level 9 and put the smarty under the seat. I grinned the whole way home.

I love it! Can't wait to go to work in the morning, feels like I have a new truck.

I also want to thank everyone here for sharing their thoughts on this. THANKS!
