Converting gasser to diesel
Im thinking about converting a gasser 95-98 ram from a V10 to cummins anyone here do this ? or know if there is any computers that would conflict with the change. Im looking at 5spd trucks and have a 12 valve for the swap.
Reason im thinking about this is the v10 trucks can be bought cheap and theres more 4x4s and extended cabs floating around with low miles.

Since nobody else has responded, I will do my best to chime in. Since you are dealing with a 5-speed and a 12v, you have a fairly simple swap, as far as necessary electronics. You don't need any computers to make it run and drive, although I believe the instruments are computer controlled, as well as cruise control if your truck has it. If you don't mind a basic truck, skip the cruise, and for the instruments, if you are on a budget, the easiest way out may be to make up an instrument cluster using aftermarket gauges for oil pressure, temp, etc. This would eliminate any need for a computer. If you want to make it as stock as possible, then your best bet would be to go to a boneyard and snag a wiring harness and PCM from a wrecked diesel Ram with similar options as yours (manual trans, 12 valve, etc.) This would take a bit of work to swap over to your truck, but would make it a plug-N-play installation.
