confused on clutch upgrade
my truck has simple bolt ons shown in signature, but recently my clutch was smoked by doing something stupid on wet roads to show off for some rice-burner drivers
since then whenever i shut the truck off i can smell the clutch, i know it has to be slipping a little, but it really cant be much because im not noticing any problems even during hard acceleration. anyway before i install my stage II injectors and comp(no wire tap) I will be upgrading to a South Bend Clutch
i just don't know what model to get, its gonna be a daily driven street truck with the ultimate goal of a little over 400hp/900tq range, i will not ever do any sled pulling, and rarely tow a 7,000lbs trailer with ATV's on it.
which model SBC are you guys running, and also should i be changing my input shaft? Also should I buy a new flywheel, or have mine refinished?

If you do not plan on going over 400RWHP then the SBC Con O is all that you will need.
If your not going to be towing over 8K lbs then you can even get away with the 12" clutch possibly.
You will not have to have to upgrade your input shaft for either the 12" or the 13" upgraded SBC's, and if you do decide to buy a 13" upgrade it comes with a re-drilled flywheel you exhange for you own. However, if you buy a 12" clutch then just get your OEM flywheel resurfaced.
Reguardless of what anyone tells you here, call Peter @ South Bend and tell him what you have planned for the truck. He will not try to sell you more clutch than you need, just be honest with him about your intentions.

Im pretty close to your setup and I plan on going w. the Con OFE. I would like the feeling that I can throw a few more ponies at the upgraded clutch and not have to worry about it. Also, for the price, the Con OFE seems to be the better clutch for our similar setups.

Well if your still smellin clutch just to let you know that the burnt clutch smell hangs around for a while. When I had my old clutch I hooked to a sled and you could smell the clutch for weeks after the pull. But SBC is the way to go. going to install a 13" sbc tonight.

ok so for my 6spd HO is it already a 13" set-up or is it still the 12"
i think i'll be going with the SBC Con OFE it seems to have stock like pedal pressure and will hold around 400hp or more
