Comp is toast, time for a Smarty or ??

So i've determined that the edge comp that came with my truck doesn't work, i've checked all the wiring and after too much grief its time for a new box.

The question is, do i go with say a smarty and RV275 Mach 1 or 1.5 injectors or just buy another wire tapping box like a TST comp? I have the Auto with an HY35 turbo that i certainly don't plan on upgrading anytime soon. I just put a new VP44 ina and certainly don't want to do another one for a LONG LONG time. I don't tow very often, 4000lbs at the most for the odd boat here and there. My main purpose is hauling snowmobiles to the mountains on a sled deck and i want the truck to have some serious power going up hills!

Another question is do i turnbuckle my watstgate shut if i do these mods, i'm pulling around 16psi of boost right now.

Can't wait to make this thing haul!

Try sending your comp box back to edge, maybe they can fix it for a fraction of what it would cost for a new box, then you will have some money left over for something else, just an idea

WELL, if you want botton-end power get the smarty, IF you want as much HP and top-end you will have to tap the new pump. They both have their market, OR if you can't make up your mind GET BOTH, but a bigger turbo would be nice

The comp never worked when i bought the truck so any power gains would be nice! hmmm maybe start with a smarty and go to bigger injectors later, i think i'm really looking for that bottom end torque for holding speed up a big hill.

The wire tap boxes are nice for adjustability, but, if your looking for more power and want the vp to last , without upgrading turbo's, tranny's etc, I would suggest some mach1.6's and the smarty.

The LEDs light up, i can adjust the power levels etc, it just doesn't add any noticeable power. I know the right pump wire is tapped etc... maybe i should sent it back to edge harness and all...

Even if you don't want to run it you should send that edge box in to be fixed. You ought to be able to sell it for more than the repair cost if you decide to go another route.

Send the box back with the harness.
Usually the harnesses go bad.

The buttons quit working on mine, would not even turn off and on, the laminated button switch assembly had a tiny break in the common circuit. I installed some buttons intended to be used excessively...from a video game controller and it works good.

DITTO! Great combo for what you say you want!

And yes...after you get the Smarty...turnbuckle the Wastegate.

Oddly enough, i think my comp may have started working, it seems to have quite a bit more power on 5X5 now. I unplugged the map sensor to try and get some more smoke but nothing really noticeable. Bottom end is really good, its hard to tell the difference between different levels of power. I don't know how fast this thing is suppose to be so it's hard to say whether its working or not!
