colored Anti-chip coatings
I'd like to put an anti chip coating on my lower rocker panels, fenderwells and the insides and bottoms of my flares. Id also like to color match it to the front of my truck where the flames start. (Dodge Graphite) I know Line-X will stick to both surfaces but Im having a lot of trouble finding a local dealer who will spray anything but black. Anyone know of any do-it-yourself coatings or or other spray-on types that I can color match to? I've got some pretty good rock chips down there and when the shop painted the flames and the front half they didnt bother to go down past the doors and I'd like to coat the fenderwells to match up and to prevent further scratches from tire rub (if there are any)when I go up to 37's in a few months. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to find a shop that will be able to spray a chip guard on the rockers and then refinish over the chip guard to match your paint. Do NOT try and match your finish with the chip guard. It will not hold up and before you know it, you will have a two tone truck.
The make the chip guard in shake/rattle/bomb cans, so if you have the paint, you could maybe do it yourself...

I have a "3M Anti-Chip" Coating on both my 96' and
02' Dodges'. You can buy this coating at any NAPA
Auto Parts Store. It comes in two levels, light and
heavy. My body shop just "roughed" up the existing
paint, sprayed on the 3M coating and then went over
it with the regular Dodge paint/clearcoat. It will leave
a slightly "rougher" look than the stock paint but it
still looks good!
It holds up way better than the stock paint etc. but
mine has still chipped in a few spots, but not as bad.
Hope this has helped you some!

Evildiesel,
I have a graphics shop in Vancouver, B.C. and have done Paint Protection for vehicles.
3M, Avery, and others manufacture a paint protection film which is sooo clear that you can hardly tell where there is a seam.
This can applied to protect your hood, lights, rocker panels ect. No need to "ruff up" your paint and can be removed later when the film starts to get "chips".
As an example see the following link http://www.envisagelab.com/page/page/240730.htm
Check with your local Detail shops or "Scratch and Dent" guys.
Some detail shops and Sign shops also carry the product.
I haven't put any on my Truck yet because I've just had my truck Detailed and am waiting for the paint to "cure".
Let me know if you cann't find it in your area. I'll be making a pattern for my truck and could sell you a kit.
Good Luck
