Colorado Transmission and Diesel Specialists?

Hi Guys,

I talked with Brian at Colorado Transmission and Diesel Specialists in Brighton, Colorado this morning about rebuilding my 47RE for me so it'll tow well and handle a PacBrake. Small shop. Sounds like he knows what he's talking about, would put the right components in and build a good transmission for a reasonable price. They provide a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. So, the question is, has anyone had any experience with CTDS? I know the big names out there - ATS, DTT, Goerend, etc. Do I need to go with them to get a good tranny, or does a small shop like CTDS do just as well?

I wouldn't be afraid to go with them if they had a good rep. and used quality parts. Every shop has to start somewhere and typically you can expect more personalized service with a small shop.

If you're going through the cost of rebuilding the trans might as well research every available upgrade and consider it with the rebuild.

Call Laser Bob at PDT in Greeley. 970-356-6444. He installs DTT trannies and many other companies aftermarket parts. He is the best person I know in CO. that works on diesel trucks and does performance work or upgrades. Stay away from ATS.

ATS is not cheap but they installed my transmission giving flawless performance for 5 years and strong as an ox. Since you are so close to the source they should be first on your list.

Why stay away from ATS, the make the best Transmission, Look at the trucks that use a ATS transmission, DirtyMax, OrangeCrush, Jimmy smiths Truck, ATS IS THE BEST

Lets not start going down the road of ATS is the best, DTT is the best, Suncoast is the blah blah... It's been done.

The original poster requested information about CTDS not DTT or ATS.

All the transmission companies mentioned above build good transmissions.

I'm just curious why the one poster said "stay away". Usually when I see that with no details, I pay no mind, but I'm kinda curious. I'm considering some tranny work and live right down the block from ATS.

I would just send him a PM to keep it off the boards. Vendor bashing isn't permitted on DTR. We've been down the road of "tranny wars" before, nothing is ever resolved and people get angry at each other.

It's real easy for someone to get on any site (anonymously) and bash a vendor for whatever reason and near impossible for said vendor to defend against.

Agreed, ATS is local, and LaserBob in Greeley does DTT installs, so I figure to check in with them. So far, though, I'm hearing no experience with CTDS, either good or bad, which means, I guess that they've not done much work for guys on the site in Colorado. While we're at it, any local Colorado installers for Goerend?

RE-built

I have a transmission done by Allstar Automotive, they are a couple of guys in a small shop that worked at ATS, I have everything that ATS would put in, at 1/3 the cost, plus they installed it and adjusted shift points. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone, they are located in Denver, 20th and Federal.
Bret is the main guy, but Fred and Jeff are the builders, the phone number is 303-477-2838, I have not affiliation with them, they are just good guys.
