Anybody running a coated or wrapped exhaust manifold? Was it a big difference in spool up? Anyone wrap their stocker?

Its fine but there's always room for improvement. Wrap is cheap plus I found a killer deal on a ceramic coated manifold.

I had all of the exhaust coated on my Polaris & it really made a difference. For one, my leg wasn't hot any more (BIG +), and also, it helped get the heat out which in turn kept my motor cooler & gave me a little more hp increase. I have heard mixed things about wrapping things. If you are around any moisture, don't do it because it traps moisture in & causes rust to occur.

I havent wrapped my truck, but I have wrapped other things. I really like to coat everything i can now. I do manifolds, turbine housings, everything that gets hot. it works great. adds a nice touch under the hood as well.

I used Jet Hot Coatings. They sent me out a video & a brochure packet that explained the process. They were very easy to deal with. Would recommend them to anybody.

We got our headers for our gto coated by a guy in Borne and showed use around his shop and gave us a piece of metal that was coated and held it while he heated it with a torch and it never got hot. http://cradin.com/

I have got pics of my coated stuff in my gallery. I love it. I have a really really good hookup at HPC so I get all of my exhaust done usually. Both turbine housings and hotpipe are done as well as my manifold. Looks sweet and cools off a lot faster. As far as performance I can't tell because I have changed way to many things in my combo and I havent even romped on my new combo yet.

I have a coated 3rd gen manifold in my profile pictures. It was coated by PolyDyn in Houston, and the coating survives on the top of pistons, on valves, and in the combustion bowl

hope this helps

Coating the exhaust manifold was a popular mod four years ago. Lots of people even did it to the turbo. Pretty much it was agreed the only bennefit was in appearance only. Keeps 'em looking good.

It does reduce surface temperatures of the parts coated. This is proven in many cases with infrared thermometers. A reduction in the surface temperature only means one thing, the heat is kept inside.

more heat = faster spoolup.

Theres places that will coat your piston tops too.. helps alot against detonation.

drawson over on the TDR did it to his pistons. He claimed it kept them too cool and wasn't worth a darn at an idle and low speeds. Said he'd recommend against it on a street driver.

Yep. Need to really get some heat going to take advantage of it all.
