Cleaning carbon build up in stacks

I've noticed that every time I start my truck my stacks blow a bunch of black specs everywhere. Even when they don't have any water in them. I talked to my good buddy Diesel_Dan and he said it's carbon build up. Well, after spending the afternoon steam cleaning those carbon flecks out of my carpet (they don't come out as easily as they go in) I've decided to do something about it. I looked into the stacks and there's a good 1/8" layer of carbon build up on the inside of them. Is there something I could run down them to help clean them out on occasion to avoid this problem or am I just stuck with this? Thanks for the help.

I noticed that mine built up carbon quickly, but it gets to a point (mines probably 1/16") where it quits building. I've just been living with it... it's a small price to pay!

degreaser with a toilet brush or something like that will take it right off. Its what we use to get it off big rigs.

well you could always get a particle trap and never see soot at the stacks again.

I could also get rid of my stacks and go back to a single side exhaust but that ain't gonna happen.

88bird I was thinking about something along those lines.

Bosshawg600, never thought of that. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

You could always try the "dreaded" turnouts.

The only way to fix them is to take them off, clean them out, and sell them to someone you don't like

That's how I fixed my stacks/soot water on the WHOLE DERN TRUCK problem

But like you said earlier, that ain't gonna happen,
Chris

Richer than stock? What do you mean? I am running stock. That's why this is irritating me.
