Cheap turbo timers?????

Turbo timers can be found very cheaply these days. Is there anything special required for a diesel? Don't they just splice into the ignition circuit and "keep the key on" for an extra few minutes? Just wondering if I need to spend all the money on a "diesel" turbo timer.

I was thinking the same thing but on my 96 it would be wired to keep the shut-off sol. up intill the time setting had elapched. More info would be welcome.

I would like to know too. It seems to me the cheap ones should work.

Very easy and worth the money

I would just sell the Banks/XZT+ & buy a Adrenaline, you'll have a turbo timer. I have a turbo timer here on the shelf, but someone cut 2 wires on the harness & I never soldered them back together. It has the push button switch to set for minutes. You should always let the truck idle to 300* before shutdown.

You can also buy the Isspro EGT based timer. Its like 120 bux or so. I have one that I never put in due to getting in on the adrenaline beta and not needing it. It works off EGTs and shuts down at the temp you set it for. Let me know if your interested via PM.

Edit-

Found a description of it
http://www.dieselmanor.com/isspro/ttm.asp hopefully this isn't a site violation

Turbo timer and High Idle features on the Quad Adrenaline make it a great box to have!

For add on units....do yourself a favor. Get only a DEI unit. Installers here and on other sites have said they are, by far, the highest quality Mfg! They make them under several different brand names.
I pd $60.00 from Curciut City for my Valet 561R and while the install was way over my 'electrically challanged' head, it works beautifully!
Has Remote Start and Door Locks built in also.
See HERE, if interested.
Remote Start can be rigged for manual trannys... just don't let it drive away without you!

The adrenaline would be nice, but I'm overfueled as is and a turbo upgrade is next, but not for some time. I found a chunk of land I want to buy and I need to come up with another $5k quick to complete my down payment before somebody else snags it, so I'm eating ramen noodles for a month, having an ebay garage sale, and the truck budget has been minimized to only the necessities. I was just wondering if the $20 units would work on our trucks.

Working great. Wired into the ignition switch in steering column.
