CB Radio Mounting
I have 1998 ram 3500 dually and i just bought a CB my plan was to rip out the overhead console and mount it there but there is a big hole from the console and my cb does not cover it and there really is not any place there to mount the bracket. Does anyone know a place that makes a console for a cb that would replace what i have now or would it be easier to make my own?

Hi, Mine is mounted in the center of the front seat with the radio standing. I use external speaker ahead of my gear shift. 5 speed don't you know! my truck is a 1997 Dodge slt 3500. The mike is also handy there on it's clip. Changing channels requires you to glance down. Not recomended in heavy traffic.
Hope this helps.

I mounted a small Uniden cb just to the drivers side of the 5 speed gearshift. It misses the 4x4 lever and even allows room for the trailer brake controller beneath it. Its very reachable. A large radio would fit well there, I suspect. I wanted to put one of my ham radios there, but not enough room.

I made a wooden bracket that fits under the center seat and mounted the CB to the vertical board. It looks like an offset "T". I can still use the cup holders and center console and the CB is clearly visable. I am not at home but could take a picture tonight if you need. I only need the CB on long trips and not in the city.

I have a single cab and hung mine between the seats in the back. It worked out ok. I just remounted it right to the o.h. console and it looks pretty nice, you can tuck the wires up into the console through the garage door flipdown thingy. If you pull it out and look on the backside there's a couple places you can drill through it and either pop rivets with sm. washers on the backside or use little machine screws and nuts. And to my surprise, even though the CB kinda covers the lights, they still provide enough light to see when ya use em.

I am sorry, I forgot to post some pictures as promised . I accidently stumbled into the 2nd gen site a while ago and keep forgetting. I have the bench seat (3rd gen) with the center console, so this may not help. FYI
But here are a couple of pictures of what I did, works for me. I used a pine 1 x 6 (book shelf board) and used a router to round the corners. Click on the pictures for a bigger view.

Geno's has a mount that bolts under the seat for $49.00.
This CB mount for the '94-'02 Dodge Ram works with trucks equipped with either an automatic or standard transmission and allows for the use of the dash mounted cup holder. The CB mounting bracket uses the existing center seat bolts to hold it in place. The mounting surface is 13" wide by 4.5" tall.
The CB face, in most cases, will be be flush with the vinyl/cloth line at the front seat. The bracket is painted satin black for rust protection.
For 5-speed, 6-speed, and automatic trucks with floor shift transfer case.

It depends on how big the CB is. I have an antique 23 channel Pace that is just the right size to fit in the dash where the ash tray used to reside. I extended the din connector to fit where the cigar lighter was and have a hanger for the mic on the dash.
