I have found a Carter fuel pump at Summit Racings web site. It is rated for deisel with a flow rate of 100gph and a pressure of 18psi. It is a rotary vane pump, 12 volt, 3/8" in and out. The picture looks a lot like it would work in a Dodge Ctd.Information as listed.
Carter pump part no. CRT-P4601HP at $87.88 each.
Relay kit for install no. PRF-50102 at $26.95 each.
They have pictures of the pump and it looks like a possibility.

Rainman, I use this very pump in my truck & have had no problems at all with it. You don't need a relay kit either. That is a great price on them too. I have been paying about double that. I have tried 3 just for testing purposes but have yet to get one to put out over 15 psi. It will fit right in the stock LP location with no modifications.

Hi,
I saw this pump also. It looked like the same as the stock pump. How about the fittings??? Did you just use the stock fittings or did you change to something else??
Looks like a more reasonable way to replace lift pumps.

Carter fuel pump.
I got a new catalog from Summit today and it listed the pump at 15psi, not the 18psi that the web site showed it as. Still will do the job. Also I found some information that Cummins requires a filter before the lift pump on B series engines. This would probably help the lift pump by keeping trash out.

My Carter from Summit has 14-15 psi at idle and 10psi full chat. It's mounted on the frame in front of the fuel tank and plumbed to the stock fuel filter/water seperator. I extended the electricals with solder & heat shrink and went with the hose and clamp fuel line routine. Drilled & tapped the frame mounting holes...bolts & red Loctite. In service since 9/04.

Carter Pump.
I am glad to see the input on this. I have just installed fuel pressure guages on both pre and post. I put the mechanical on pre and have it placed under the hood and went with a digital unit inside on the post. They both read the same when it is running and it has a new fuel filter also. The bad part is that the readings on the guage is at best 12psi on idle, 5 to 6 psi when lite acceleration and when I go to the floor it goes to 1psi. All of this is with no load. Looks like a new pump is in order and I have ordered one. I will try to get the dealership that I use to replace iot under warranty. The truck has 58,600 miles on it and is a 1999 but I have the extended warranty to 75,000 miles or 7 yrs.

I had a 4601HP for 6 months, about 14,000 miles, then it died. It was always very noisy, I wasn't unhappy when it guit. I tried a couple Mallory pumps, they lasted almost a year each. I have had a Holley Black pump for over 2 years now. The 4601HP's are cheap, maybe you'll get a good one.

I removed the original pump and mounted the Carter on the frame rail by the tank. One change I made after the Carter died was to put a filter before the lift pump. That didn't help the Mallorys, but the Holley has lasted longer. The Holley Black can be used with diesel. Several people have used them for years, but some have also had problems with the Holley Black, quite a few run the Holley Blue pumps, but their pressure is a little lower.
