Question can you ignite diesel exhaust?

so I was looking up exhaust flame throwers and they were all coming up for gas engines where you jest tune the injectors in to run a richer mix well I’m changing my fuel plate to a 100 or 0 and where its going to smoke a lot I was wondering if I could put the same sparkplugs in my exhaust and ignite the un-burnt fuel???

That aint going to work...even if you plumb extra diesel right to the exhaust - unburned diesel isnt going to burn.

Dr.Evil is correct, the reason the spark plugs work for gassers is because gas is combustible whereas diesel is only flammable...

most ppl who have flame throwers have a spark plug in the exhaust along w/ a line they can used to pump in propane or gasoline.

I was wondering about this too, I would like to run a propane setup but not real comfy about having lines inside the stacks and I certainly don't want lines hanging off the tops of them either. Who has Flame-thrower setups ? pictures?

Diesel will burn under pressure (like in your engine) or in a mist (like in your engine). however if you have a pool of diesel it will not ignite with a match.

Retard your engine to say 8* maybe, i think thats where mine slipped to, then drive up to lovelace pass down shift on the back side muffler will load up with fuel vapor and shoot 5' flames out the side of your truck, also will permanently expand muffler.

thought about it. The idea came to me when i looked under the hood of an international with a dt466. It has a can of either that was plumbed into the intake. all of this was hooked up to a **** inside the cab. and on start up, ya pull the **** and it automatically injects the eather into the motor. im sersouly thinking about sticking this into my stacks and either using eather or the propane bottles like in lanterns or torches.

Guess I'm just too "old-school" or something, but I don't see the deal with flames. Too much like spinner hubcaps for me.

But, with that said, I think if you used a gas injector plumbed into your stack and then a good waterproof and encased spark plug fired by a mag or CDI would work wonders. Reason I say a encased plug is so it would have at least a little better chance of surviving.

Don't think I'd like ether as it is TOO combustable. I'd hate to blow up a good stack.
