Can the vp-44 tell dealer you added a power box

I took my truck to local dealer for some warranty work and the tech was telling me that they now can tell if anyone has added a power box because they can read codes that are set inside the injection pump, and they are saying they can void your warranty if you add anything that dodge fills adds power over factory rating. I hope this works because this is my first time making a post

Re:VP-44

You are correct sir (madam?).
Dodge dealers/service dept's have access to the newer ODB software that previously only Cummins tech's had access to.

You play you pay.
Own warranty station and all that.

What they are looking for is stored deep in the ECM,
previously Dodge only had access to the PCM codes, and some of the ECM.
They aren't really codes per se, but rather, fueling parameters that can only be accomplished with an addon box.
Dodge techs didn't know what to look for as far as those parameters, but now they've been educated as to what to look for beyond the visual inspection stuff (pierced wires, velcro on the fuse box, etc)

Re:VP-44

I just can't see how the ecm knows the box is their when it piggy backs in down stream, it would make more sense if we added a new program into the ecm itself like the new super chip programmer.
