Even if you are going to go to twins and you have a six speed, If you have black smoke, a cam will help you considerably. If you don't have black smoke but you have an egt problem, a cam will help considerably with that. It will help to a lesser degree with a standard over an overfueled auto with a tight converter, but it will still help.
The more you are overfueled or the larger the turbos you are using, the more benefit you will see. If you have a bd set of twins and 50hp injectors you will see an improvement all the way around initiall spoolup, smoke, egt's, but if you have a 366 over an s380 and 200hp injectors, you will see much more improvement.

OK guys, dont bite my head off......... but everyone down this way uses a sheild cams, just wondering why no one said anything about them???? Im not putting anyone down......just wondering?

probably because of price i am guessing, i looked at them and they were pretty pricey. they might be more for racing too, but iam not sure i know they do really good work i but quite a bit of stuff from them for my pulling tractor.

Ahhhh the lopey sound... actually with the mods on my truck now and the timing at 18*-23* (i change it alot) my truck would lope pretty hard at idle.. especially when cold!, and my idle rpms were set at 750rpm but it would lope down to 500... such an awesome sound... i wonder if i put a cam in it would lope a little more..?
