Camper shell info please
I looking for a used Leer or A.R.E. camper shell---lots for sale but have not been able to find one specifically for my 99 longbed. Anyone know if one made for a Chevy or Ford will interchange and fit right or are they make/model specific. The dealers around here are tight lipped if you are not buying a new one from them. Thanks-

What about me Scott?
Break Away, technically just about any fullsize long beb cap will "fit" your truck. To get a really good fit though, you should get one for your year, make, model. A cap for another truck while it could be made to work on your truck, will never fit as well as one designed for your truck.
I have a LEER model 120 that came off my 01 longbed, send me a PM if interested.

I've found a red LEER to match my 01 3500 but it is from a FORD. The measurements are 100 x 73. I doubt it will fit mine but I am tempted to drive the 300 miles to check since I haven't been able to find a red used camper.
When I gave my neighbor my contrators lumber rack it fit his ford perfectly. So why wouldn't a campershell fit as well?
No way I'm going to pay $1400 for a new one. I'd rather spend the cash on motor upgrades.
Anybody think a Ford shell will fit my 2nd gen Dodge longbed? I'm willing to accept a less than perfect fit so long as it's not all that noticable to the untrained eye.

If you want it to fit just right, you have to get one for a 2nd gen Ram. Even the 3rd gens won't fit right because the front of the bed is more curved on 3rd gens. The beds on the 2nd gens (and lots of trucks) are narrower in the back.

i had a used swiss cap for a mid 90's ford on my '96, it covered the bed and kept stuff dry, but it didn't fit right and looked silly. i finally ponied up the dough for a new jason cap. wound up paying a little over 900.

You can eventually find one on Craigs list. Took me 3 months to find one for my Nissan Frontier. They are normally $200-$400 used. Beats $1000+ for new.
You can almost always sell it for you pay.
