california emmisions

I am moving to Missouri this weekend. I bought my 97 a month ago, due to budget set forth by the ol lady, I havn't started bombing yet but plan too. My question relates to the emission equipment on my truck, and the effects of bombing. If I add products like exhaust, fuel plates, and injectors, will this effect my motor at all? Is there items that I will be able to remove that effects the power or smokability on my California emmisions truck? I am not worried about these items as there is no emmision test in MO. ;D

Re:california emmisions

I believe you truck has the EGR system that can be removed and it will help you out. as far as bombing the Calf. truck I think you will be fine.
DM01

Re:california emmisions

I don't think there is a real big difference. The resonator may actually be more of a cat on it than on our trucks, but other than that, nothing really.

Re:california emmisions

Most,

I'm not 100% sure but I think you only have and EGR and a Cat. Also I believe the pump timing is a bit different. I'm sure you can bypass the EGR. Remove the cat as it's probably getting plugged anyway. If the truck has been in a snow belt area, you'll probably need a new exhaust. Check the rear of the muffler for signs of rust/holes. That's usually where they go bad first. Any good diesel shop should be able to set the timing for you.

Re:california emmisions

That sux, my truck is at the body shop :'(. As a general rule: 12V has a cat. and 24V has a resonator. Exceptions are the change over years(early '94 & '98). Hog it out & let 'er flow.
