Cab light wiring

I'm going to tap into the headlight switch and use a relay to be safe, but I was wondering should I wire all the lights in series or parallel. Series being just connect the negative to the positive on the next one and the last ground to a chassis ground. Positive being run all the positives to the +12v from the relay and all the negatives to chassis ground. I figure it'll work either way, but I think series would be a little more current draw (more resistance in the circuit).

I just tapped the wire at the switch with no Relay. Ran them in series, and ground to body at each light.

A Guy in this thread (bottom of page 1) mentions that the OEM cab light harness plugs into the fuse block. I wonder if the plug can be reproduced?

Ok thanks. Looks like parallel it is. I just got the headliner out and I think my best plan of attack for the holes is a center punch and then a unibit both from the bottom side where the existing holes are. How big did you guys drill your holes? I plan to use some silicone the help seal things up.

My guy drilled from the roof in. He used a unibit also. Instead of using the existing holes they had a template. But I imagine both ways would work.

My truck had a set of aftermarket Pacer lights on it when I bought the truck. When I installed my gauges, I notice they had them wired directly to the headlight switch. Funny thing is, I used a multimeter to find the power to my interior lights by probing the back of the headlight switch to see which terminal was to the dimmer switch so I could dim my gauge lights with my dash lights. Well, when moving the dimmer switch back and forth to see which wire the voltage changed on, my cab lights were getting bright and going dim. Here the idiot who wired the lights up got his power from the interior lights! I rewired it with a relay that I mounted under the hood. I'm gonna install a set of Recon smoked third gen lights soon as their mounting holes seem to match up to my old pacers the best, which I believe were actually for an older body style chevy.
