Buying a 94 4x4 auto, pros&cons?

Looking at a 94 sc 4x4 auto, 235k miles, asking $4500, bone stock, nothing modified, won't even blow smoke,(for now) I'm going to build it up(500-600hp) including tranny upgrades what are the pros & cons of a 94?

Thanks, Charlie

price is right... get it! The only con is that it has the 160 pump, but a deal like $4500, get a 215 pump installed. Other than that you should be good to go with some transmission upgrades.

94's are ok

If you read all the Dodge TSB's the 94 is a pile. But I would not hesitate to buy one anyway, simple truck with simple problems. Just stuff that any first year new model vehicle goes through. The 160 pump will get you to 500hp probably more. If it is rust free and not a beat old ranch truck buy it.

I have a 160 pump and have plenty of fuel! I would not let the pump stop you from buying it! I love my 95 it's simple to work on and makes plenty of Hp!! The only thing I don't like is the darn thing is begining to rot out...As far as the trany goes give Dave Georand a call he can square you away with the parts to make it a great trans with ease!!

Exactly and when I get done we shall see what a 160 pump can put out at it's max without it being bench tuned! If and when I ruin it with the Grease I run every day then the 215 pump will go in but until then........

I love mine. It runs the 1/4 in 11.52s and I have never had the pump of the truck, gotta love the 160. I just checked my mileage and it was 19.3 mpg

The 160's are some of the best pumps to build from everything i have heard. Mine seems to be making decent power for the mods i have done. So far i havent had any problems as far as TSB's and stuff for my truck. Definately wouldnt hesitate to buy another one.
