hey guys my first post so saying whats up ...i have a 97 12 valve 2500 2wd and my dad got me a bully dog chip for it the other day.....so now im lookin on the internet to see the features and i can only find one for the 98.5-02 24 valve.....is there any way someone can help me find out which is the one he got...the shop is closed now and the price on the receipt was 588.00 i think it says its a downloader also...im new to this so any help would be appreciated..just kinda excited to see what features it had..my dad said he also made sure it had an egt guage with the chip i guess a display you leave on the truck...thanks in advance for help

 

a 97 12 valve does not have a computer that controls the engine. You can't put any downloader on it because there is nothing to download it to. The engine is all contrlled by the injection pump. Whoever sold that to your father needs to have thier head examined. Do not go back their except to get your money back.

 

Yes a 12v you cannot put a downlader or chip or anything of that nature on it.

so guys does this mean theres no way to put any chip of any kinds..or just not a downloader?? if theres no chip of any kind to put on it i guess i should go with a tourque plate first??

 

12v's don't use downloaders or boxes to add power. You can add power to 12v's by simply adding injectors, grinding your plate, adjusting timing on the pump etc.
