Building my own stacks

Guys im going to be building my own custom stack set up I think i know all of the pieces I need. I just have a few questions.

First question flex pipe where does it go and why do I need it?
How do you bolt the stacks down in the bed?
I’m basically going to get the Down pipe and some straight pieces and then a 45 going straight up to the bed so the stack will be just right of the rear sliding window.

What do you guys think.

yes you will need a flex pipe, it allows for the movement of the motor and flex in the line so something doesnt break. i had duals and just let the y-pipe sit on top of the hole in the bed since that is where it went from 4" to 5". the clamps i used were a small little L piece that bolted to the side of the bed and was a band clamp that went around the stack to hold them. they make stack clamps that would hold a single if thats what you are doing. i would use the 1" wide band clamps instead of the cheap u bolts.

I made some "L" shaped brackets, welded them to the cross pipe then bolted them to the bottom of the bed.

Flex pipe is a good idea, you don't need much, I had a 10 inch section just before the 90 up into the bed.

You need a 90 not a 45 to go up into the bed.

I have a 45 going up to the bed, homemade. I have around 16-18 inches of flexpipe. You can get it at truck places, maybe napa? I also made L brackets and welded them to the pipes, I put mine on either one of the stacks. Where I drilled the holes thru the bed I took one of my old exhaust hangers(rubber bushing) and cut it into round slices and put it behind my L bracket and to help with vibration. I also just welded my stuff together. They gave me the wrong clamps and its 65 miles to the place I bought them. So I welded my flex to the standard pipe.
