buildin the perfect bumper

well a light pole tried to commit suicide in front of my truck. so, not ever liking the flimsy brush guard i had on the thing and wanting more deer (and pole) protection, i have set out on a bumper search. searching all the forum and websites i have found some cool bumpers, but none that i really like. so my best friend and i have started building a bumper for my truck, i will get some pics on here, we have worked on it three days so far, weekends, but i think it will be an awesome bumper when done.

That's lookin' good. Is it going to bolt to the truck with just those two lower pieces?
I have'nt started on my bumber project yet, but I've been thinking about the attachment points. I like where you're heading with it though!

we have notched part of the cross beam out to fit the 2 1/2 X 3/8 angle in and bolt it with the three bottom bolt holes, we are planning on gettin the top hole also and then tying it in underneath to the crossmember. still a work in progress, Dodge did not leave much for us to bolt a bumper onto.

While your at it you may want to think about adding some offroad lights like K/C, PIAA, or other similar products. It's just one of those things that's nice to have for the just in case scenarios. Just an idea.

there will be three off road lights up top and two driving lights in the bumper below the headlights. it is a great idea!

Is there a 2" receiver on the bottom somewhere? That might be nice for a step/winch/boat-backer-upper-ball mount.... Looks might sweet, though.... What materials, exactly, and welding method are you using?
