Re:Breaking in my FRESHLY rebuilt motor!!!

you can moniter your on board dyno with boost and e.g.t. to get a idea what load you are putting on it if you want to do it in stages. 20% for awhile 30% for a while and so on by the time you have a 100 miles on it you can go wot intermitly so as to keep your rings seating. Like I said and you probly know this that the rings are the only thing that is changing a lot durinng a break in.
Piston speed in a long stroke is much faster then a short stroke.Dont run them up to the speed of sound.

Re:Breaking in my FRESHLY rebuilt motor!!!

Break the motor in like you steal it,when i picked up my truck new she had 26 miles on her.Soon as i pulled out of the dealer lot i was running her to the red line and never looked back. Now she has 34000 miles and gets an avg. of 20.5mpg freeway driving empty not bad for a 3500 and fuel mileage is done by hand.

Re:Breaking in my FRESHLY rebuilt motor!!!

people that hear about stuff and rumors as how to.....I am going to say this as politly as possable Do You Feel Lucky ? In 1969 Ford had one of the best claims to fame " a 50,000 mi eng. guarnteed".
Now be fore I take this religion any further were talking little gas pots here up to 390 ci (I do not know what that is in ltr.)
Now back on track..these lil engs, every one of them were put on a donky stand fired up, confirmed oil p. and put to the wood. JUST SCREEMIN I'm telling ya!!!!WHAAAAAAA.
Now in the world of gas pots this is good medicene. I have done everyone of mine this way..no blow ups no comebacks. period.
Now would I do that with a diesel eng.????NO NO not at all. Why??? Two differant breed of cats here.mass, weight, inertia, and a few more words I can not spell w.o. spell check.
If you do the math,- what is the piston speed of 2.50 stroke compared to a 4 inch stroke say at 3000 rpm?? Now keep raising the bar by 500 rpm and you will see what I mean. Gas pot whip it good, diesel, torq it like you should 8)
