Red is starting, yellow is deep cycle, blue is marine deepcycle (marine terminals).
Optimas kick out big amps, last long, no leaking.... but don't have the reserve capacity of regular lead/acid bats.

Depends on your useage. If you use it as an RV it is. If they're basically for starting engine and not running high power accessories without the engine running, then no. Regular lead/acid will run a winch longer by about 50%.

Local Sams and Wallmart does nor carry Optima. Almost settled for a lead acid battery. Have an Optima in another vehicle and really like it. It can sit for along time and still work, ran it completely dead, left the stereo on, charged it seems good as new. Went to Costco, they had Red and Blue tops. $99.00 for Red $144 for Blue. Went with Red

I've been running redtops in Montana for 10 years, no problem.
Sometimes it gets cold here, July is the only month that might not frost. Reds usually go for $100-$120 each.

I have been looking at both the red and blue. Putting the cost difference aside, would i be better off with the red top or the blue top (those are the most readily available around here)? I would like to replace the deep cycles that i have now, as they are starting to show their age.... I have been known to sit and run power inverters and amps and would rather not listen to the engine at the same time, if that would make any difference in the product of choice....
