Boostissues

Well, I got the boost elbow in today. I took it out for a test and it feels like it is still defueling. I have the setscrew all the way in so it is completely blocking the port. What happens is that it will run up to about 25psi at WOT then drop to about 22psi and hold there for a bit. It does not feel like a leak anywhere, it just feels like it is hitting that point and the engine is backing down.
Van AAkens site says it is a boost foooler and I never got any codes, but it still feels like it is defueling.
Any ideas

Chris

You need to call VA and confirm for sure that your box has a boost fooler......is there a part of the VA harness that plugs into the MAP sensor? If there is, it would likely have boost fooling capabilities.....if not, there is no boost fooler......at 25 psi, you should be getting a 0234 over boost code without a boost fooler......can you verify if the wastegate is 100% closed? Something is not right......it does sound like the motor is defueling for some reason....

No, not yet. I am stii hoping that someone here that has one can get me some info. I do have to say I am pretty happy with the performance, I hauled my 2 quads out to the dunes this weekend and got almost 21 MPG with all the power I needed. Still have not gotten a chance to haul the camper, but with the power I gained, I am betting it will be great.

OK, so what connections are on the VA box? MAP and data connectors? is it like the EZ box where you have a couple diferent jumper settings? How about the instructions (I know, real men throw them away IMMEDIATELY)?
...or any response from VA?

If you don't have a boost fooler on there the elbow isn't going to do you any good.

Got my Email from VA. They told me it does have a boost fooler, but that with the stock injectors I am pretty much set with what I have. I may try and add a different intake I have laying around (scotty1) that a buddy gave me. It is just a bigger K&N that I have used before, but it was way too loud in the cab. I figure with the straight pipes now it does not really matter.

I still have to say though, I love this box and it absolutely rips!!!

It does have the MAP, and plugs into the test port.

You may want to check your fuel pressure. I have an early VA that I had to add the elbow and boost fooler to and I hit almost 30 peak then settled to 27 lbs with stock injectors.

Fuel is good. I just replaced my LP a week ago. I did hit 26 pounds today climbing a good hill. I am really wondering how much of the problem is with altitude?? We are at almost 5000 feet here and there is not alot of air up here.

That sound about right, now get some injectors and stack an FMS with it!
