boost/wastegate hose questions

boost/wastegate hose questions
Clarification please. What is the hose coming out of the turbo going to some sort of actuator?
Installing #10 plate, it came w/ a boost nipple, where does it go? Directions say in back of IP on the AFC but I don't see one similar to it there. Only a vaccume line going to the intake. Does it get installed on the turbo where that hose attatches, there is a similar looking barb there?

The one coming out of the AFC on the original part is a straight through 1/4 NPT to barbed fitting onto a larger diameter black/red internal rubber line that takes off between the valve covers from the AFC. You need to remove the straight through fitting and install the elbow there and put the hose back on. Pretty simple really.
This line supplies boost pressure to the wastegate to open it at a certain setpoint, ie about 25 psi stock. The brass elbow ups that to around 36 psi for better performance and cooling of the engine.
Hope that helps.

hose on turbo
I think it helps, only I don't remember seeing a barbed fitting anywhere around the AFC. I'll look again though. I have noticed that the break off screw is not present so it seems someone may have goobered w/ this area pre my owning the vehicle. I wonder if someone took off the barb to allow max flow?
What is the hose on the turbo then???? There are two, one is shrouded in steel liner and the one in question comes out of the turbo and goes to a vaccumme actuator like looking thing. Hose length is about 10 inches long. Any ideas?

Determine where your vehicle obtains its wastegate pressure signal. Some vehicles pick up this
signal at an elbow on the front of the turbo as shown in FIGURE 2 while others get this signal at a
tee connected to the rear of the injection pump as shown in FIGUREs 3 & 4. If your vehicle is like
FIGURE 2 proceed to step 11 below. If your vehicle gets the wastegate signal from the tee at the
rear of the injection pump, loosen the hose clamps on the AFC housing to turbo wastegate tube air
hose using a 7 mm socket. Disconnect the hose from the barbed fitting on the top of the fuel pump
Air Fuel Control (AFC) housing. Slide the hose as far as possible onto the steel turbo wastegate
tube.
10. Remove the barbed fitting from the AFC housing using a 7/16 inch deep barrel socket. NOTE:
Save this fitting in case you want to convert your engine back to stock, this fitting is not used with
the Power Kit.

This is where I'm getting confused. In figure #2 on the tst instructions they refere to the turbo looking like this. THis is what mine looks like and I do not have a barbed fitting or "t" on the afc. So, where do I put the barbed fitting that came with the kit? Do I take the one on the turbo housing out and replace that one???
