boost on stock turbo

I have the stock Hy35 turbo on my truck, from what i can tell, the wastegate seems to open up at about 21 or 22 pounds of boost, just when the truck seems to really be taking off. My question is can this turbo handle more pounds of boost, like say maybe 25-30? If it can, how can i make it do so because i know that the wastegate is hard wired and the boost fooler tube wont work. My final question is does the Diablo Power Puck have a built in boost fooler so the overboost code will not be set? Thanks for your time

I think I was pulling 17-18 stock, with a just a boost elbow I could pull 25 but fuel psi dropped bad.

I have the same question. My local performance guy says he can bump up the boost. I think he was planning on changing the entire waste gate, which i know i dont need. I've been told by others its easy to do with parts from home depot.
The wastegate tube on 01's are solid so the elbow they send in the kits wont work. Anybody know the quick-fix? I originally had a D-box that came with an elbow i could'nt use , then i got the comp box (AMAZING!!) and it came with another i cant use..
I hope i know what i'm talking about... I must have done something right cause if you mash it, it goes up in smoke through 3rd.
Ford...its not just for dinner anymore!

I've seen 30lbs a few times but usually I see 28-29lbs. No problems thus far and that's with plenty of barking. I don't know about the power puck but the edge products have a boost fooler for our year trucks.

Hope this helps, Doug

With the HY you can increase the boost with a turnbuckle. Here is a link to a thread with picks of different ways to use the turnbuckle. As for the Puck having a boost fooler. If it connects to the MAP sensor then it does. If it only connects to the IP then it doesn't.

Anyone else try this mod? I hooked up the turnbuckle tonight. I won't be able to put it through the test anytime soon. Also what is the max psi i want to steer clear of?

I used the turnbuckle until I upgraded to the HX charger. I have had a problem with my HX so I had to reinstall the HY until I get it fixed, so the buckle went back on. If you raise the boost past 30 psi. you will be out of the map of the HY. If you can keep it at or under the 30 mark you should be fine.

I'm running the Edge Comp with a turnbuckle. 32psi of boost with no issues. Truck is fast!

(I need to upgrade the tranny next)

It's mainly to keep the EGT in check.

Is there anyplace to find a list of parts i would need to buy from home depot and how about some detailed instruction of how to put it together and hook it up to the wastegate, Thanks. Does anyone know of a place that sells a turnbuckle already put together?

Here is a good pic showing what length, size and how to install the turnbuckle.

You should be able to find a buckle at any good hardware store that will work.
If you go with the spring style that is pictured in the link I have no idea what you will need.
You might shoot a PM and see if you can get a parts list. I am using the same thing as the picture above on mine.

I installed the "Turbo Master" on mine. I can adjust it to what ever I want, but the max I can get is 28-29 lbs. That's fine with me since the egt's only get up to 1200 degrees when pulling.

I could easily pull 35psi before adding the injectors last week. Now I can hit 40+ with no effort at all. It made me nervous when I looked up and saw 40psi.

Do you have to disconnect the turbo to put the turnbuckle on or is it something you can do with the turbo connected? Thanks
