Boost pressure

I just installed some gauges, and I'm having a prob with the boost pressure. I'm only getting 13 when I when I'm floored and only 3 or 4 when regular driving. I still have about 2 or 3 feet of extra hose that I did not cut off. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. If someone could help that would be great.

Where did you tab in for boost pressure? What brand of gauge did you go with? Does your truck smoke quite a bit, seems to me it will be a boost leak or the gauge is faulty. Unless your HX/HY is wore out, but I doubt it...

I tapped it on the intake horn. They are autometer gauges. No she does not smoke, only if I make her.

Stock you should see at least 20psi of boost. I agree that 13psi of boost sounds odd. Hate to ask, is your boost guage still working?
If you have no boost leaks, I would guess that you have a very weak VP pump. No smoke? How does the truck start? Whats you fuel pressure at the injection pump?

Boost leak, preturbo exhaust leak, or not enough fueling.

Damaged turbo possibly, but normal wear causes oil leaks, not low boost. Damaged turbine wheels can cause low boost. Bad wastegate usually causes the gate to stay closed due to the spring.

I'd be tempted to slip in another gauge to verify it's not a faulty gauge. www.surpluscenter.com has gauges for a couple bucks for a simple test.
