Boost leaks or ???
My turbo doesn't seem to want to spool very well around 1500rpms until 1700 or so i can't get above 10psi of boost. Once i get to 1700 and up i can get up to 30psi. Its quite the pain since i'm going around 55mph in overdrive at around 1500rpm and the truck can't get more than 10psi of boost and the truck is lugging/bogging and i don't have much power but I'm going too fast to shift down to 3rd and the rpms are too low to get any power in 4th (OD).
I tested for boost leaks by pressurizing the whole intake from the turbo. I sprayed soay water all over the intercooler boots and no signs of leaks anywhere. After pressuring the system up to about 20psi it takes around 20 seconds for my boost gauge to go back down to 0. I could hear some air leaking in the engine but i assume that must be through the valves/rings? Is this a normal amount of leakage?
Does this sound like a fueling issue or boost problem? or does the engine just not make much power at 1500rpms and perhaps i don't have a problem at all?

did i post this in the wrong forum ? surely somebody can tell me what rpm i should be able to fully spool my HY-35 at?
I do know that at 60mph in overdrive i'm around 1600rpm and it doesn't spool well at all until i get up to almost 70mph then bam, 30psi...

It does not sound like you have a boost leak.
You should have no driveability issues with a near stock truck and a HY. Check your map signal (scanner) and make sure the compressor wheel is free and not too much play. You might just unplug your quad box and make sure it is not causing a problem.

the compressor wheel is fine, no codes are up and when i check for boost leaks and pressurize the system, it takes about 20 seconds for 20psi of air to leak out...

I'll check mine tomorrow and let you guys know what I'm running on mine. My max boost is about 35 psi. I have the Juice set to defuel at 35 psi, cause I need to save some money for a twin setup. I can't afford right now to push the stocker too much.

How well does the turbo spin by hand? Your turbo might be getting carboned up. With HY its common. Is your wastegate closed? Your running the stock tranny/torque converter still right? Your turbo sounds laggy to me, it could time for a new turbo or its rebuild time.
