Boost Elbow vs. Wastegate

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm just trying to figure out what the difference is and a search didn't turn up much. From what I understand the boost elbow lets you set an "air leak", sort of like adjusting the waste gate (I think its adjustable, corect?). Is the boost elbow more of a fine-tune adjustment? Thanks!

Yes the wastegates are adjustable....basically you are setting the system to open at a given pressure. The adjustable boost elbow is basically like holding your hand over your mouth & trying to exhale.....the bolt screws in & blocks the pressure from releasing. I'm not real sure if this helps, but I tried.

The boost elbow slows the rate air reaches the wastegate thus allowing you to run more boost than the wastegate would normally allow. I haven't played with wastegates yet, but I think you just lengthen/shorten the rod to adjust where the wastegate opens.

Another option is a manual boost controller which would allow for easy boost adjustment without bleeding air off like the elbows do
