Boost Elbow

After reading some other threads, I have a question about the boost elbow that came with my EZ. What would drilling out the orfice to a larger size do?

Lower the boost level that the waste gate opens.

Yup! Allow more air through and open the wastegate sooner.

If your looking for ability to control your boost level....Try a MBC; manual boost controller. Even the cheapest ones work well...allowing 1 psi at a time increase, if desired.
I use the cheapest JoeP model...works very well.

Interesting. You would think I would know, but what is the advantage of the adjustable boost?

With you HX-35 Turbo, anything over 35+/- psi boost is just over heated air and higher EGT's....but no more HP. Boost Elbow may take you too high. But if your wastegate is set to open sooner (HX-35's are set at 21 psi...you may gain power and reduce smoke by increasing it up to a higher level, without going over 35 psi.

Plus lower EGT's if the turbo stays inside the efficiency range!!! It worked great on mine!!

are you guys locating your MBCs in the cab, or just leaving them under the hood?

Personally, I don't want any more "Stuff" in the cab. Once I have the MBC adjusted where I want it....I see no need for change on a regular basis.

Mine is mounted on the line between the turbo and the wastegate...no real need for a bracket.

Your choice where you want it.
