Question Boost drop off while pulling with Edge EZ?

Guys, please help. I've searched through the archives but have not found any posts with this problem. My 99 CTD works great with the Edge box, but while pulling lately, I've had a problem. Without a load, it boosts up fine up to about 26 - 27 lbs and has no issues. But when pulling a load up hills (3 horse GN with horses about 13,000 lbs), it will start to boost up and then just drops off like it's going to die. As soon as it gets below 10 lbs of boost, it will pick up and start going again. If I keep it below 15 lbs it is fine, but as soon as I start pushing it at all, something electronic is shutting it down until the boost is below 10 lbs. I'm sure somebody has to know what is going on here. Like I said, without a load, it is fine. Would the Edge box have anything to do with this or something else. It is not throwing any codes.

I notice you have gauges. What's your post-filter fuel pressure doing when this happens?

I have all gauges but that one. I was starting to think about fuel pressure also. Is there a sensor which will back off the throttle if there is too low fuel pressure? The fuel filter has not been changed in a while, can this possibly be the cause?

It sounds like it might very well be a clogged fuel filter or a bad lift pump. You really need a good fuel pressure gauge on the 24 valve Cummins. I have a Westach dual combo gauge that reads both pre-filter and post-filter fuel pressure, so it's easy to tell if I have a lift pump problem (both readings will be low) or a fuel filter problem (only the post-filter reading will be low) in the event of low fuel pressure.

Since the VP-44 injection pump uses fuel for both cooling and lubrication, starving it can lead to an expen$ive failure!
