Post bombs and 160 pump

I have a 94 with the 160 pump. Ive got some extra money and would like to reach 500HP if possible. I am thinking 370's and bigger turbo (B1, Ht2B or similiar) with the minor other mods ( plate, air, springs, ect) you can do. Would I be better off throwing some money at the 160 pump and having it modifed or could I just swap a stock 215 pump in its place. This should be a simple swap correct??? Which is best (meaning easiest and cheapest) modified 160 pump or 215 pump??? Also how much boost will the stock HG hold before I need to get o-ringed. I would like to save the o-ring phase for later if I can. Thanks for the help!! Yes I know about trans and guages.

Fill out your signature so we can see what you have. 500 HP? You better get a new transmission before you go near that and have a good set of gauges!

to reach 500HP you better have a pretty big Bank account. I have almost that in my truck right now and it is only at 400HP.
here is what you will need. and the cheapest way I think you could get it.
make the stock cam plate a #0 plate (Free)
change timming to 16-20 *($100-150)
12mm head studs ($450-500)
good sized single charger or twins ($1500-3000)
laser cut DV's($200-250)
370 or bigger injectors($400)
clutch or built auto.($1000-4000)
That should net up to 450HP-500HP i would think. if you don't have 500HP and 500 is what you want then you might need to have the pump worked on by a pump shop. ($300-500)
Thats 8800 if you take the high number of what I wrote.
Now to get my truck there it would cost 4500 but that is because I have ran across some sweet deals and as of right now have saved 3000 over what it would have cost me if I bought it all at retail price. I will need some pump work to get to 500HP si I bet you will too unless you go with twin turbos then you might be closer than I think. I dought I will ever reach 500 because I'm staying with a small turbo for fast spoolup.
If you have any questions or want to know a place to get some of these things I can hook you up with a guy that will treat you right and give you a great price to boot.

More specifically, in my quest for 500HP would I be better off (meaning cheaper and easier) having my 160 modified or getting a 215 pump?? I keep hearing how good the 215 pumps are and how they push a lot more fuel. Which would be the better way to go???

I would stay with the 160 pump. I think you would be ahead to keep it than change it unless you can get the pump really cheap and can get it pu on really cheap. then maybe if would be good to do. unless your wanting over 500HP I think the 160 will be able to handle close to that without any really big things being done to the pump.

Many guys are getting 500hp from a 160 pump. That is pretty much the limit, though without pulling the pump off and getting it completely reworked. 191 dv's are the key to feeding the big fuel to a large injector on a 160 pump. IMO, you would be no further ahead with a 215 pump finacially, if all you want is 500hp.

Cool that is what I am getting at. So its possible to get 500HP or close with the 160 pump and delivery valves. Good. What kind of mods are people using to get 500HP with the 160 pumps?? How much boost and how much power could I make without doing any head mods?? I would like to save that for the next phase if possible.

Thanks!

On the fuel side, 500hp is not too difficult to achieve: 180 or 191 dv's, 3000 or 4000gsk, #10 plate or grind your stock plate and the appropriate injector to support 500hp. The turbo is where the dollars are. You will have to upgrade to a turbo that is at least $1500 and add the full 4" exhaust to that along with a good intake like a scotty II.
