Bombing with a 53 block

I ended up getting a truck that has a 53 block and i realize that these are weak blocks in certain areas.

Now i myself like to bomb my trucks, but should i just not bother with a 53 block? How many of you out there have a 53 block and just bomb away?

Is it kind of a hit and miss thing with the 53 blocks?

Thanks for any info

Jeff

I have a 53 block, but I am not too worried about it. The 53 blocks with a smoother casting on the outside are supposed to be a little better than the 53 blocks with a rough outer surface. Mine has a smoother outer surface, but even if it didn't, it would still have the same mods

Me too! 53 and not worried ... if it cracks, it cracks! You'll be kicking yourself if it never cracks!

If you do, be prepared to fix or replace the block.

If it cracks, won't be the first block my dad welds and certainly won't be the last.

There's a process called "lock-n-stitch" that is proving to be a permanent fix. Do a search and you'll find plenty of information. I have been following some of these threads and have not seen a problem yet. I'm sure some of the guys who've done the repair will chime in and post information on their success. In the meantime, here's some reading:
