Blue Chip VP44

According to Blue Chips site, their 1600 dollar pump gets a "Fedex spec" computer, a steel sleeved timing piston bore, and a new housing/bushing. They also claim no failures in over 600 pumps that they have built that are on the market. Does anyone have experience with their VP's, do they last any longer?

They also have a maximum mileage pump only for SO VPed trucks for 1900 that is good for "3mpg" and 22 HP. Sounds to me like a timing bumped pump as 22HP is about what Quad claims from his max mileage module or XZT+ on timing only mode.

Any thoughts?

The "Fedex" spec parts are in all remaned VP's now, and have been for some time. I'd be interested in if they actually had zero failures in 600 pumps, or zero warranties in 600 pumps. I wonder if they would count pumps that failed with wire taps on them? I personally wouldn't spend 1600 on a VP. Did that once (HRVP), wouldn't do it again.

$1900 for a VP? Umm, no. Save the at $800 from that paper weight, get a reg SO pump for $1100, then buy a Smarty, or Quad, or some quality sticks and get the same mileage and more power. If that pump does indeed increase timing to get the mileage, might have to becareful when towing (I say this because in the Smarty manual, the recommend not towing on the timing heavy mileage program) and running other timing boxes on the truck.

I don't think anybody warranties a pump with a wire tap...

but I agree with Tate... 1600 is a bit steep.

Call Rip at Source Automotive. He gave me a great price and a unbeatable warranty. He's a stand out guy, just make sure you tell him exactly what you are going to do with the pump(ie. tap the wire).
