Blue Chip
So I'm going to replace the VP44 soon (anyone who wants to help please let me know!!!!) and I'll be putting on the pump wire cover from Blue Chip.
However, I noticed their low pressure warning light kit is only $50.
So is it worth it?
Opinions and other info is always greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I think I would go with a gage. You can SEE more of what is going on. With the Comp, and being in the mountains, a pyro would not be a bad idea. I found out how handy the pyro is a few weeks ago when I was in Colorado. Just carrying a cabover camper, I had to de-tune the Smarty to #3 to keep the EGT's in check.

we recently had it work on the "stallion". the light stayed on and we figured out the holley blue quit working. the stock carter will not pump enough through a dead holley blue and the truck won't run. we swapped out the blue and she runs like a champ again. i think it's a good investment if you don't want the pillar guages like my gf does.

crobtex.....
I have boost, egt and trans gauges....They come in very handy, especially when towing 3 jeeps up I70!!!!
kipo....
I only have the stock fuel system as of right now, so I hope the light would tell me if my stock lift pump goes out, or the fuel filter needs to be changed (as that is what Blue Chip says it's for).
My reason for leaning toward the light is the ease of installation verse a fuel pressure gauge, as well as cost! If I could get a cheaper fuel pressure gauge, I'd love to have that.
How hard is it to install the fuel pressure gauge? How about where to get one for a good price?
As always, thanks for the help!

Several of the DTR Advertisers sell gages. Just be sure to get a name brand. As far a installation, it's pretty straight foreword. On my '99, it's plumed to the outlet side, on top of the filter housing (black hose).

If your going to install a gage or a light, might as well do both,
Once you get the fuel tap, "T" , you can install both,
I used the campain Press sw, should have gotten a higher sw,
about 7-8 psi, the warning light is a 2 dollar one from Radio Shack.

I have just replaced my VP44, what fun. I am sure it can be done in 3 hours but being at it for the first time, not knowing better tricks I spent the better part of the day doing it. Seems to work great, just if I could only reset the codes to make sure they don;t come back.
I would definitely go with a gauge, more information and less than $50 anyway. Installation of a mechanical gauge on a 98.5 is even simpler than on a newer 24v as we can use the 1/8" NPT fittings on the fuel filter can.
