Now thats whacked. If you push something down the hole can you tell if the stud is completely gone, snapped or if the nut just popped off?
What was your final torque measurement and what lube did you use on the studs?
My tuner has recommended that if I upgrade to studs I only do it with the whole gasket. He says hes seen a bunch of instances where replacing the OE bolts with studs one by one results in a blown HG under loads they should be able to handle otherwise.

Hey fellas, well when i did the studs i had the motor out of the truck, head came off tapped the holes deeper, used a new .20 marine hg, put the head on, torqued to 125ft, after installing the motor i warmed the motor up(following ARP instructions) did another torque with the motor warm, and then torqed again after 500miles, i used the moly ARP lube in the studd kit.
kawi600- the top of the studd, right when it comes out of the block is where it broke, i can feel the studd in there, the rest of the stud and nut is no where to be found.

I forget what they recommend for torque values with the lube but thats the number I see everyone else using with ok results. Id guess you got a stud with a defect in it. I just dont hear that happening a whole lot with other folks and the same setup. Just bad luck =(
If its spit coolant out and all you can bet youll need to do the whole job and deck / prep the head and block for the new HG.
Are you running o-rings too? If not now is a good time to do it.

I had 2 studs break during re-torque(122ft/lbs), but they were the A-1 not ARP. Sure sucks though. I was able to drill and remove the studs without removing the head. Sounds like you have to take your head off anyway.

Yup kind of a sucky deal, but thats life. Im still waiting to hear back from ARP to see if they'll warranty their studds, i sure hope they do![Shocked](https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forums/images/smilies/shocked.gif)
