Re:BLACK SMOKE

Not that I've noticed yet, but I just put it on this morning and I didn't have time to do any testing. I did notice it smoked less, however. I don't have the filter minder on it (no place to mount it) so I can't say if the engine is getting all the air it should, but looking at this honkin' thing and I can't help but think the only way it could get more air is to leave the turbo air tube open. I plan on towing my rig for the 4th of July weekend. We'll see how things go then. In the meantime, I'll do a couple of wot tests to see where thing measure up now vs then. Stay cool. 8)

Re:BLACK SMOKE

Bob, go ahead and dial down your fueling a little bit. You don't have enough air to run what you have now. You will not noticea a loss of power, because once your engine is burning all it can, you can't get more power. The only difference between medium black smoke and HEAVY black smoke is EGT, not power.

If you choose to add air, a Scotty 2 is probably going to be your best bet by far. Be advised that it can be VERY loud, and will pop your ears at times because it sucks so much air out of the cab!

Banks systems are kind of standalone setups and generally don't seem to mix-and-match well with other vendors.

HOHN

Re:BLACK SMOKE

I did a couple of WOT tests and the pyrometer doesn't go beyond 1100 at any time, where it went well into 1200 before. I don't know how it will handle towing, but I'll let you know. BTW, the smoking has subsided substantially. One side benefit, the exhaust brake sounds better rapping through the BHAF. ;D It sounds great! ;D ;D Stay cool. 8)
